Mock Trial Conference for Teachers of Grades 3-8

 

Learn how to participate in Law Fair and Law Adventure Competitions at this free workshop for teachers of grades 3-8 on October 11, 2011, 8:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. Lawyers and teachers will guide you through the process.

Foundation President Stuart M. Lederman of the Morristown law firm of Riker, Danzig, Scherer et al, will discuss the elements of a mock trial from opening statements to direct and cross examination to closing arguments. Volunteers from the audience will perform parts of a simple mock trial. The entire audience will serve as jurors. Teachers Bethanne Augsbach of Mill Lake Elementary School of Monroe Township and John Shanagher of Bloomfield Middle School in Bloomfield will discuss how to prepare a mock trial case with your class for the Law Fair and Law Adventure Competitions. A panel of competition judges will share their perspectives and will take questions from the audience.

 

Teachers attending the entire conference will receive professional development hours.

From Trenton: Take Route 1 North to the second Ryders Lane sign (RYDERS LANE-NEW BRUNSWICK). Ryders Lane passes over Route 1. The Law Center is the first right turn off of Ryders Lane.
