LAMPARELLO REAPPOINTED TRUSTEE OF NEW JERSEY STATE BAR FOUNDATION
Ralph J. Lamparello, managing partner of the law firm of Chasan Leyner & Lamparello in Secaucus, has been reappointed as a trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting law-related education and giving all New Jersey residents a basic understanding of the legal system. Additionally, he serves as first vice president of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) and is on track to assume the presidency in 2013.
A member of the NJSBA since 1989, Mr. Lamparello is a former chair of the NJSBA's Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee and the Meeting Arrangements and Program Committee. He has been a trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation since 2003 and served as a judge in the Foundation's former American Mock Trial Invitational, an international competition for high school students. He has also served as chair of the Law Center and Investment Committees.
A former president of the Hudson County Bar Association, he is a trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey, and is a member of the American Bar Association, Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys of New Jersey, Association of Trial Lawyers of America-New Jersey, the Hispanic Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the New Jersey State League of Municipalities-New Jersey Institute of Local Government. He is also a Master of the American Inns of Court-Hudson Inn.
One of fewer than 100 attorneys in the state certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as both a criminal trial attorney and civil trial attorney, Mr. Lamparello is admitted to practice before the New Jersey Supreme Court and U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, in addition to the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the Court of Appeals of the State of New York, and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Civil Practice Committee and is a civil arbitrator for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson Vicinage. He previously served on the Supreme Court Committee on Model Jury Charges-Civil and was chair of the Court's District Fee Arbitration Committee for Hudson County.
A former deputy attorney general for the State of New Jersey, Division of Criminal Justice, Mr. Lamparello was also an assistant prosecutor in the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor. At his law firm, he supervises civil and criminal litigation in state and federal court and serves as trial counsel in all major litigation, including commercial, public entity, corporate, employment discrimination, environmental, medical malpractice, product liability and criminal defense.
He presently serves as special litigation counsel to the County of Bergen, the County of Hudson, the City of Bayonne, the Township of North Bergen, the City of Newark and the Town of Secaucus..
Mr. Lamparello's articles on legal topics have been published in the New Jersey Lawyer and Hudson Headnotes, and he is a frequent lecturer for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He has appeared on "Court TV" as a commentator for Open Court, Trial Heat and Both Sides.
A cum laude graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, Mr. Lamparello earned his law degree from St. John's University School of Law. He resides with his family in Warren, New Jersey.
