Stuart M. Lederman

President

LEDERMAN ELECTED PRESIDENT OF STATE BAR FOUNDATION
 

Stuart M. Lederman of Madison has been elected president of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation for the 2011-2012 year. The Foundation is an organization dedicated to promoting law-related education and giving all New Jersey residents a basic understanding of the legal system. Previously, Lederman served as Foundation first and second vice president as well as secretary and was a trustee of the Foundation for nine years before becoming an officer.

 

A partner with the Morristown-based law firm of Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP, where he serves on the management committee, Lederman concentrates his practice in governmental affairs and commercial litigation, with a strong emphasis on construction and real estate litigation. A recipient of the Moffet-Henderson Litigation Award, he is also a former instructor with the Emory University School of Law Trial Techniques Program. Lederman frequently lectures to teachers and architects on the law.

 

Admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, Lederman chairs the Foundation's Program Development Committee and formerly chaired the Fellowship Committee. He is also a member of the editorial board of The Legal Eagle, the Foundation's legal newspaper for kids, and the author of Educational Guide for Trial Jurors, which is published by the Foundation. Additionally, he is a member of the Forever Vital Capital Campaign committee for the New Jersey Law Center and has been instrumental in its fundraising efforts. He serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character and is the former chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court's District X Ethics Committee. A trustee of the Pingry School, he received the Nelson Carr Award from Pingry's alumni association for service to the school. Lederman is also a trustee of Temple Sinai in Summit.

 

Lederman is a graduate of the University of Delaware and Emory University School of Law.
