Bar Foundation Website Wins Prestigious Award

BAR FOUNDATION WEBSITE WINS PRESTIGIOUS DESIGN AWARD

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s website, www.njsbf.org, designed by FiftyFive Design Associates, has won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the 2008 Interactive Media Awards, an international competition that recognizes the highest standards of excellence in website design and development.

“We are absolutely thrilled with this honor,” said Angela C. Scheck, executive director of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. “It is an affirmation that the goals of the Bar Foundation were achieved, which, above all, were to ensure that visitors to the site would easily find the law-related information they needed. The design is also logically organized, as well as bright, sleek and inviting.”

The Foundation’s website was one of just ten winning entries in the Legal category since the awards began in 2006. The category includes websites of law firms and legal organizations.  Revamped last spring, www.njsbf.org was launched in May.

“The website of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation connects New Jersey citizens with resources to help them better understand the law,” explained Ms. Scheck. “It is a highly visited site, providing a substantial amount of material on free publications and seminars, school programs and law-related resources.  The crux of the successful redesign was FiftyFive Design’s ability to organize the site to present the information logically and make it approachable for a range of users, everyone from senior citizens accessing library computers to attorneys and law students.”

The Interactive Media Awards were created by the New York City-based Interactive Media Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising standards of creative achievement on the Internet.  The judges are leaders in web design, advertising, public relations, publishing, news and other industries.

Entries were rated on five criteria:  design and appearance, content, standards compliance and cross-browser compatibility, feature functionality and ease of use. The certificate awarded to the Bar Foundation cites the high level of excellence in all five areas.

Founded in 1958, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation is the educational and philanthropic arm of the New Jersey State Bar Association.  The Bar Foundation’s mission is to promote public understanding of the law through a free, comprehensive public education program.  Among its activities, the Foundation conducts seminars and conflict resolution training, publishes materials, operates a videotape loan library and speakers bureau, and coordinates elementary, middle and high school mock trial competitions.
