STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO SPEAK AT BAR FOUNDATION CONFERENCE ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE, SCHOOLS AND THE LAW
The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will sponsor its annual conference on "Substance Abuse, Schools and the Law" on October 21, 5:30 - 8:10 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square off Ryders Lane, New Brunswick.New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram will be the keynote speaker.
The conference is open to educators, substance awareness counselors, student assistance counselors, school administrators, attorneys, psychologists, social workers or interested citizens who work with young people to prevent and/or counsel on substance abuse.
Following remarks by the attorney general, a distinguished panel will address key issues and take questions from the audience.
David B. Rubin, Esq. of Metuchen, noted counsel to school districts and counsel for In Re T.L.O., will discuss "Purses to Parking Lots: Update on Student Privacy."
David G. Evans, Esq. of Pittstown, attorney, author and consultant on drug-testing issues, will explore the "Effects of ‘Medical' Marijuana on Schools and Law Enforcement."
William John Kane, JD, CSW, will serve as moderator. Mr. Kane is director of the New Jersey Lawyers Assistance Program. Stuart M. Lederman, Esq., first vice president of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, is scheduled to deliver the welcoming address.
The conference is open to the public. A fee for dinner of $10 per person, payable to the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, must accompany each registration. Dinner will be served from 5:30 - 6:10 p.m. The program will start at 6:10 p.m.
Teachers who attend the entire conference will receive professional development hours. The conference is made possible by funding from the IOLTA Fund of the Bar of New Jersey.
