Drugs and Substance Abuse


"Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue" - Designed to help young children recognize and understand the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. This 30-minute videotape is produced by Buena Vista Home Videos and is available in English and Spanish. Appropriate for grades 1-3.

"Fast Forward Future" - A drug abuse prevention video adventure for elementary schools featuring Richard Kiley. The Weston Woods Institute produces this three-part video with teacher's guide. (62 minutes)

"Drinking and Driving: The Tolls, The Tears" - Interviews with accident victims, their families and drunken drivers themselves provide a clear human message about the tragedy of this national social problem. Introduced by Phil Donahue. (60 minutes)

"Drugs: A Deadly Game" - Produced by the Boy Scouts of America, this video covers the positive values of staying drug-free. Appropriate for junior high and high school audiences. (16 minutes)

"Straight Talk at Ya" - Hosted by Kirk Cameron, this film uses dramatizations & animation to illustrate the realities and misconceptions about drug use. Cameron offers advice about how to avoid drugs and alcohol and how to deal with teen problems without the use of drugs. For a middle school audience. Told in three 15-minute parts. (45 minutes)

"Introduction to D.A.R.E." (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) - Narrated by William Conrad. Geared to middle school students, this tape explains the benefits of having a D.A.R.E. Program in your school. Teaches students how to resist peer pressure and demonstrates techniques on how to say no. (15 minutes)

"Students' Right to Privacy: Drug Testing and the Fourth Amendment" - This documentary explores some of the views surrounding the controversial issue of drug testing in public schools through the personal drug problems of three students. Suitable for middle and high school audiences. (28 minutes)
